2001 V70 2.4M starting problems

We just got a 2001 V70 2.4M with 61,000 miles. Upon leaving the dealer 3 days ago I noticed that while locking the doors on the drivers side, all doors locked, except the drivers side which locked only 50% of the time. 2 days later, we open the door to go somewhere, and the alarm goes off??? We don't have a key fob, just 2 keys, and we have to disarm the alarm by using the key outside the car. Then we try and start the car and it doesn't start. We could hear the starter clicking, but the engine wouldn't even turn over. With the key in every position, the driver and passenger side lock buttons only lock the rear gate, and two rear doors and nothing happens with the front two locks. Some of the led's on the car dim and flicker sometimes when I push on the brake as well. I've read on the forums and it seems it might be something with the key coding, since we don't have an fob, or a starter, but that would seem premature with 61,000 miles. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

After a few hours of fun, finally figured out that the battery was low, and thus couldn't engage the starter mechanism. Used jumper cables and it started right up. However, the same problem exists with the front lock buttons not working on either door. I'm guessing that there might be a short somewhere that is draining the battery, because we hadn't driven the car for a day and a half, and that is when the battery was too low to start. The warning screen on the left of the dash also says, "bulb failure, position light," which I couldn't find a description of in the manual. Any help with identifying this would be appreciated!

"Position Light" = "Tail Light"
Note that you have two position lights on each side (4 total), one on top of the other, so you have to look closely to see which one is out. Sometimes it's just a loose connection, try whacking the housing firmly with your hand.

also read that loose connections happen sometimes and slamming the trunk would help...

The lower, left rear brake light was out. Fixed that. Then the front right turn signal went out... Fixed that. The door locks still don't work most of the time, and the drivers door is the worst, then the front passenger. The back two doors work every time as well as the trunk. Will taking apart the door help me figure out if the locking mechanism is bad, or should I just replace the locking mechanism? Also, I'm wondering of the possiblity that there is a short in the locking mechanism which is draining the battery? Every morning the car is slow to start and all the lights are dim, but once it's running, everything has full power. I'm also wondering if the battery needs to be replaced? It's the original factory battery which is about 6 years old now. Thanks for the reply's, it's much appreciated.
