Default 2001 V70 T5

I just bought another used Volvo, 2001- V70- T5- wagon with 101,000 forwork andI absolutely loveit. My problem is that after after about six months it has started leaking oil in the front right (pasenger side)corner of the engine about where most cars battery sits.It does'ntlook like a main seal issue because of the location of the oil spot, whatcouldit be?

I have an olderVlovo 93-940-wagon that I use to use for work (just a smalll power difference between the V70 and 940)and it also startedleaking oil andit was the main seal. Whats up with Volvos and oil leaks. I love the cars butseems to be a patern with them. I guess its better then a transmission problem.

I drive about 200 a day and unlike most other cars or trucksI almostfeel refreshedwhen I'm done driving the Volvo's. I use to drivea Ford Ranger and after I was done driving it I felt like I had just ran a marathon.

Thanks Gary

If it is from the passenger front it might be Cam seals.
Can you post a pic?

I got hooked on Volvo's because I use todo PDR on a small car lot that just soldand serviced Volvo's. They also race them, I think its a tricked out 240.

He said he thought it was the cam seal also. What makes a cam seal go bad, just time?Could I have avoided it?

The vent system's are known to clog up and cause the oil leaks.
What you will really need to to is have the ventbox, and Cam seals replaced.

Thanks for the info. It's kind of funny I'veworked on cars my whole lifebut the terminology onVolvo's never ceases to amaze me. I hate to even ask the question but what thebleep is a "vent box". I even put the term in my search engine and it came back with nothing. Sorry for my stupidity.

It is Volvo's style of the vent system like a PCV on the American cars.
It is mounted on the front of the engine under the intake manifold and behind the A/C compressor.
