Default would a 2001 v70 auto transmission work for a 2001 c70?

I have a c70 2001 5speed auto that has transmission problems. Anyone know if the 2001 v70 auto transmission is the same and will drop directly into my car? I have leads on a good deal on one.

Default What I would do if I were in your shoes

Hello, Go ask at a dealership. Just tell them your situation and ask if it'll work. If they guff you then find another. Are you in a well populated area? TRANSLATION: Are you within reasonable distance of a couple of Volvo dealers or just one? My guess is that the transmission would have to to married to the rest of the car's processors and that the axles might be slightly different (convertable vs. station wagon). Tell us what you learn and do. Kira

Would not recommend the swap. You'll just have the same problem sooner or later(GM tranny is junk) I have a '01 V70 with 135k miles and the auto trans. is giving the classic signs of imminent failure. Been told that a Volvo reman. auto trans. has been updated and fixes all the problems, but costs $4 to $5k installed! I'm opting for a manual trans. Trying to find a donor car. It's a lot of work, I know, but I feel it will be well worth it in the long run.(Much more fun to drive as well).

It's not a GM tranny, both of them are a/w. And i'm asking because I can get a rebuilt v70 01 for a good price.

manual swap will never work, p2 cars ecu is tagged to the car and you'll never get the car out of limp mode.

any one else know if they're the same? I thought these cars were pretty much the same from the windshield and forward?

Manual swap in P2 has already been done - it's just a lot of work:

Been told by local independent Volvo tech that if the A/T is a Volvo reman. then it's better than OEM. But if it's rebuilt by trans. repair shop it won't last.

Just sharing what I've learned thus far in my quest to solve my own A/T problems.
