We have a 2001 2.4 L V70 XC wagon over 136 k..I had the turbo die on me 3 weeks ago (oil spattered allover the engine) , so my mechanic told me to buy a rebuilt on so I did. He installed it and then engine started making funny noise, so he told me to buy a rebuilt transfer case so I did..all was good until 30 min into my trip on highway..engine started overheating..car had little acceleration..
does anyone know of a reputable Volvo specialist in central or northern NJ area
we are just frustrated with the car and my mechanic and need some guidance..would really appreciate it

 

Hello, 1)LEW'S foreign car repair in Caldwell, NJ, on Roseland Ave. IIRC. My brother and I have dealt with him. 2)In Oakland, NJ is a shop called Jimmy's (formerly Hans foreign) just off the Interstate 287 "ring" highway, near where it crosses NJ Rt. 208. They'll tell you if they can do what you need. It sounds like you met up with someone who doesn't know. Kira

 

Do you do any of the mechanical work yourself?, They are pretty easy to work on. If you do, reply and I'll send you a message where you can buy the Vida/Vadis repair disks. I bought a nice V70 xc wagon in July for the wife, and also got the disks a week later, I've done all my own work on it...we love it...and today I just bought a1998 V70 xc. Abit different but all in nice shape. The Vida disks are a great ool, they show you how, to ,where to, etc....Well worth the money. Good Luck...it's tough finding a good Volvo Mechanic ,who is truly concerned about your car...and doesn't charge an arm and a leg to help you.
