Transfer Case oil substitute for V70XC AWD

Volvo requires "Volvo Transmission oil 11 61 648" for the transfer case. Is this just to get $23/liter from unsuspecting dolts for common gear oil?

A good EP lube will suffice, at 1/3 the price.

Thanks ed7! I picked up some Amsoil Severe Gear EP SAE 75w110, seems to be working just fine!
