2001 Volvo v70 T5 2.3l surge/rough idle and dyes at low rpm.
I just bought a v70 t5 wagon with the 2.3L turbo yesterday evening. It has 203,000 miles on it and claimed to need a tune up and cam seal because of an oil leak, however it’s throwing a code for the boost control valve. So far no oil is leaking, it went from high idle and rough idle(pretty sure it needs a lower motor mount) but smooth when I was in it, to dying at red lights and having trouble cranking up. I know I need to clean the throttle body and get all spark plugs and probably coil packs, so I guess my question is could it need retuned? Everything is stock.
have you looked at the spark plugs yet? I'd also check around for vacuum leaks - particularly in the line going to the BCV. some of those lines are hard to follow so a smoke test may be the best way to test. After that, you can read up on typical symptoms for a failing ETM (there's contacts in it that may need to be replaced).
