Default 2004 V70R Purchase advice

I am considering purchase from priv. party of a 2004 V70R with 24000 miles. It has auto trans. Does anyone have any advice on these models. I had a 1994 850 turbo wagon for 6 years, then moved to MBZ CLK55 for past 4 yrs. I'm worried about mtce on Benz after extended warranty expires, but don't want to have same concerns on V70R, which only has 12k mi. left on warranty. Should I be concerned? How is depreciation on these R models?

Default RE: 2004 V70R Purchase advice

I'm considering a nearly identical purchase. Through my research I've come across one thing that has me a little concerned with the car. The automatics have substantially less torque output than the manuals in MY '04 and '05. The '06 autos have the same as the manuals. Volvo felt strongly enough about the lower output to replace the transmission with a "beefer" version out of the XC90's. Why?

On the other hand, a person purchasing this car is truely looking for a performance wagon. Why purchase one with an automatic transmission.
