4 Broken Lug Bolts :-(
Swapping out summer for winter rubber, first three of four wheels swapped, no problem. On the last of four wheels, GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! SNAP! goes the lug bolt. Dangit!!! Well, I might have said worse. At this point I took the rest off and four of five were snapped off in the hub. Looking back, I had probabally already broken the others so yes, maybe I should have stopped and tried penetrating oil, hitting the bolts with something to try to jar them loose before applying more force, whatever but I didn't and now I have a hub with four bolts stuck in them. They are sheared off totally flush, nothing at all is sticking out of the hub.
Any ideas on how to get the old bolts out?
The next question, if I cannot remove them, do I need to replace the hub? How hard is it to replace the hub?
Thanks,
Don

Wow! I have never seen that before. When I purchase a car, one of the first things I do is make sure I can get the wheels off. When I picked up this wagon, I could NOT get the lugs loose on the car. Most of the lugs were stuck on and I had to get me 525 lb nephew to help me brake them loose.
I can't tell people how IMPORTANT it is to put ANTI-SIEZE on the bolts when you put your wheels and lugs on. I actually apply the stuff to the threads and the wheel (where it contact the hub). I was trying to help a guy with a BMW get his wheel off his car on the side of the road and we couldn't break the wheel off the hub with NO lugs on it. The alloy had stuck to the hub. I was actually thinking about getting under the car and kicking out (crazy but that's how tough it was).
I would recommend replacing the hub now, I can't imagine anyine getting those bolts out and you being able to use it. BTW, those bolts are not cheap either, like $5 each.
