Hi,

Just joined the forum. Its a 98 V70 AWD with 130k miles (had it since
it had 55k miles). Recently the car has had two issues. One is when
I brake, it makes a kind of whoop whoop sound as if the brake is
not making good contact or ABS is kicking in. The mechanic is
struggling to diagnose the problem. Any ideas?

Rear rotors warped?

 

Hi Tech,

Thanks for the suggestion. The mechanic had already checked the rotars
and we rechecked. Both the front and rear rotars are fairly new and
pretty smooth. The noise seems to be coming from front. My
mechanic is thinking that something is wrong with ABS sensor
in the front. Is that a possibility?

If that was it you would feel a pulsing in the pedal only. You might also hear a humming as well.
