98 V70 oil Pan removal
Hey all and tech,
I was wondering if you absolutely have to pull the engine to get the oil pan out. I recently cracked the oil pan and am going to get it welded, but i cannot seem to get the pan off the car without lifting the engine, which i'm not prepared to do. Is there any hope?

Did you move the steering Metal lines out of the way?
You don't have to pull the engine maybe lift slightly.
But i have pulled it off many times without doing anything.
Also unscrew the fuel line from the corner by the crank pulley and move the line out of the way.

the power steering lines are really stiff and i have disconnected the clips holding them in place. How big of a project is disconnecting them completely? it looks to me that the oil pan isn't going anywhere without getting the power steering lines out of the way. Also how would i go about lifting the engine "slightly"?

Once both holders are off you should be able to pull the lines to the transmission and give you enough clearance.
They are a pain to remove all the way. If you have to tweek them a little to give enough clearance.
Lifting the engine is a pain without the proper tools. There is a craddle you would need to go across the inside of the fenders.
Or if you have it parked by a tree you can use that. But make sure you loosen the mounts.
