Default 98 V70 XC AWD no guts.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I recently purchased a '98 V70 XC AWD. The previous owner told me it had "a slight acceleration problem". It seemed ok on the flat road when I drove it but as soon as I tried going up any hills I noticed that it has a major lack of power. Also If I step on the gas it revs but doesn't seem to want to shift. If I drive it softly it seems to shift through the gears ok but still lacks any power.

Check engine light is on. Local autozone gave me a code for the evap sensor. ABS light is on and so is service.

Almost feels like its not starting in first gear!? I can usually find answers to anything on the internet but I'm having trouble finding anyone who is reporting the same symptoms.

Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Check level and condition of trani. fluid.( May need topping up or changing. )
Evap. problem can range from the EGR valve to a simple loose gas cap. check for leaks along the return line to the gas tank. Check abs sensor on the wheel hubs: maybe damaged or slack. On the other hand, your abs module could be faulty but could be repaired. HAVING A WELL MAINTAINED 98 V70 XC WOULD MEAN GREAT DRIVING.

It looks like the cat needs to be replaced. I have purchased one now looking into a shop to weld it.
