wife drove V70 to wotk this am. at stop light she noticed a burp of sorts in the engine. she then noted that the ETS light illuminated.
my question is what is worst case scenario?
can she drive withe the ets issue for any length of time?

1. She can drive. However the car may be in limp mode and not be able to get over a certain MPH.

2. Did it come on and stay on? Or did it come on and go off?

3. It is covered under a 10 yr. 200,000 mile warranty now. Go to your Volvo dealer and have the ETM replaced and the new software installed. It should all be free!!!

the cruise control was not working after the ets episode.
spoke to her a momnet ago. on her way hme. the ets light is not on and the cc is working again.

My ETS light came on one day and went off same day. Then a few days later to a week it came back on and stayed on.

So yours is going bad, just a matter of time.

How many miles are on the car? Mine went at about 75,000 miles.

There will still be codes in the computer.
Take it to the Dealer and complain about the Light coming on. Also tell them it stalled a couple of times on you. Also say it Idle surges.

They should do the Software upgrade for free.

They might tell you upfront they migth need to charge a check out fee. But if they do the Software then it is free.
