Default Alternator?

As post title says, I am having problems with alternator on my v70. Today after 15 minutes of driving, abs light came on followed by traction light and shortly after srs light too. Car went into limp mode, lights were diming. I stoped, shut it off and couldnt start it again. Battery was dead. Replaced it with new one and car started right away. So, I assume it's the alternator. I noticed that battery light on the dash has dissapeared. Is that common when alternator is dead? Also, are there any relays or fuses that I should check before buying new alternator? What are the chances that new regulator would do the job instead of replacing whole unit? Car's got 120k. thanks!

It may be that you had a bad connection to the battery. Keep driving (not to far from home) If you don't experience any trouble, it was that or abad battery.

Did you test the old battery before replacing it?

why do you assume its teh alternator? Couldnt it just be a dead battery? If it was the alternator I dont think your car would run with a new battery for more than a few miles.
