Best Infant Seat???
So I just tried to install an infant seat behind the front seats and I have to move the front seats all the way forward. Does anyone know which infant seats will fit better?? I can't get anyone in the passenger seat with the baby seat back there. Thanks
we used one like the Graco SnugRide with the detachable base. i don't think it even touched the back of the front seats. wife and i are 5'8".
the handle went over the backs of the front seats in my 3-series. it wasn't even close to the front seats in my E320.
people could sit on either side in the Volvo, easier in the E320 (did a 3000 mile trip!), and ultra snug in the 3-series.

Are you trying to fit a rear facing or forward facing car seat? If it is rear facing, you'll probably have to go for the seats that are designed only for rear facing and a low weight limit. We used an Evenflo aura for rearfacing and it fit fine in a compact. It had a weight limit of 25 pounds, though.
When your babe gets old enough/big enough for front facing, you can go all-out with a Britax Marathon, the best rated for safety out there. The Britax fits cars front facing no problem. Although it works great rearfacing, it is a big space hog.
In reality, the safest way for a kid to ride is rear facing, so most suggest keeping the kid in there for as long as the weight limit is not exceeded. If your kid grows quickly and is too heavy for it before age one, then you are basically screwed. Then you would have to get a higher weight capacity monster sized one like the Britax. It goes rearfacing until I think 30 or 35 pounds. It fits a kid front facing until 60 pounds for the Marathon (hence, the name).
If you have a big, young kid, then I guess somebody better get into yoga and start practicing the lotus position while sitting in the front seat....
It's not until you have a kid that you realize why there are so many minivans out there. Not like I would ever in a million years buy one., but they do have their uses.....
Good luck!
