Default Brake help

I am doing a brake job on a 98 V70 and I am having trouble getting the piston back in the bore. I was able to push it back a little bit with a c clamp enough to fit the caliper back with one new break pad and one old one but thats as far as i have gotten it to go. Is something broken or am i missing something?

Something is fishy here. Maybe the rubber lines are bad. Try putting an old pad in there and use the c clamp again to compress it. Do not put to much pressure in the piston itself. If all else fails open the bleeder as you are compressing the piston.

Yeah I tried all those things since the post and still no luck. I went and did the other side and it went very smoothly. On closer inspection it looks like the boot around the piston has come off a little bit and there is a little bit of rust on the piston. I'm thinking its the caliper so I just ordered one in case it is. Does this sound right and is there much to replacing the caliper. As far as I can tell you just have to disconnect the hose and connect it to the new one then put everything else back together. Any pointers?

I would say caliper now as well. It is easy to replace. Bolt the caliper back on and break the line loose. Then unbolt and unscrew the line and swap caliper.

Your welcome.

And bleed it with a vacuum bleeder by yourself.

And yes, Tech is the man!
