Default bulb message

My little message center ('03 V70) is telling me that I have "bulb failure position light" and the little caution triangle is lit. I have looked carefully and all 4 parking lights are working - what then is the "position light"

Thanks

Thanks - but those appear to be turn signals only and both are working.

Problem solved (at least for the moment) - I did a Google search on "Volvo position lights" and came up with a large number of hits - apparently this is a common problem with a number of solutions including replacing all of the "corner" bulbs*, banging on the light assembly and slamming the trunk or hatch closed. As it turns out, the rear lights have two bulbs, and, on close inspection, I could see that one of them (left side) was not lit. I tried the simple solutions first - hit the lens with my fist, slam the hatch - no joy - so then I opened the access panel just to see if the offending bulb was easy to reach (it wasn't) - then closed the panel and - the light came on and the warning went away!

I really don't like self-correcting electrical glitches but will wait for any further investigation.

*There is some suggestion that the system is so sensitive to variations in bulb properties that not only does one need to use bulbs from the same manufacturer but even assure that they are from the same lot! How one does that in these days of pre-packaged bubble wrapped everything is not clear.

Default Position light bulb again

Back after 3+ years - hitting the lens with my hand no longer works so i guess it's time ti change the bulb - but removing the little panel on the rear interior does not let me gt my hand anywhere near it - how does one replace this little rascal

Thanks

There is a bulb cassette that you remove. See the tab which releases the assembly.

Default System sensitivity

Hello, I've had a bulb out warning arising from "unmatched" bulbs only once. It was with 1157-Stop and Turn Signal bulbs in a Saab. I measured my stash of mixed bulbs with an ohm meter. I paired them by closest ohm reading. No more warnings. I've never gotten an errant bulb out warning in either V70. I just replace as needed. (just jynxed myself-darn) Kira
