Buying a 200 v70 GLT
This weekend I might check out a 2000 v70 GLT with 138k on it. What are some things I should look for? Also, different websites give different information about horsepower and fuel economy. What is the actual fuel economy and what sort of motor/trans is in the thing?
One website said that there are 2 versions of the GLT. My bet that this is the fancier one. It has power everything, trip computer etc. if that makes a difference fuel economy-wise.

Hello, Dealer or private sale? Service records would be nice. Straight running car? Let it fully warm up before you drive it. Check the ETM for a yellow or white sticker. White means original, yellow means Volvo installed rebuild. Look at the throttle body (by removing the air intake) and look for oil and dirt. Check the shocks/struts. See if the timing belt has been done. Give the transmission fluid a look and a smell. How does it shift? Run the power windows. Listen to the blower motor at it's slowest speed. Smell for anti-freeze in the cabin. If you have a scanner, bring it along and check for any stored codes. Delaminated door panels used to get everyone in a tizzy-an upholstery shop can reglue them. Take it to a shop you know or a Volvo dealer you trust and have it gone over. Good luck. Kira
