A/C Refridgerant Question
Hi everyone
Have an AC related question I was hoping to gain some insight on. We just purchased a 2000 v70 and it has one of the typical Volvo AC problems. I've been troubleshooting it thinking it was the famous clutch on the compressor but it seems fine. It works perfect 99% of the time, if you run it on the coldest setting with the fan on full speed for an extended amount of time it will momentarily stop blowing ice cold air and just blow kinda cold. When it does that I can turn the AC button off for about 60 seconds, turn it back on and it works perfect again for quite a while. Anywhere else on the dial it works perfect, just has this issue on the coldest setting at max fan speed. I think it probably just needs the refridgerant topped off but I'm not sure how to do it on this particular car. Looks like there is only one port on the lines so I'm assuming thats the low pressure side. How do I go about topping off the refridgerant? Is there a certain process I can use to make sure its done correctly? What is the proper psi when completely full? Can I just use one of those goofy refill cans with the built in gauge or will it need to go in to a shop? Thanks!
