Default A/C works very well sometimes

My wife recently bought a 2000 V70 and when we test drove it the AC worked very well. But we have now noticed that when we drive it on the freeway the AC works great but when we have to slow down (we don't even have to stop) it starts to blow warm air. The only way to get cold air again is to turn the system off for a couple of minutes and then it is fine again as long as we don't slow down. When the air is working it is probably the coldest air we have ever felt from a car. Anyone have any ideas?

It might be low on charge, but I am leaning more torwards a compressor.

Sounds like its the comressor. Some people replace it, and a few guys just "re-shim" it. The admin (tech) came up with a way to do it. https://volvoforums.com/forum/showth...highlight=shim

My 98 V70 did the same exact thing. It was the compressor. Try the re-shim method first. Hopefully that will work and save you $$$$.
