Default Confused About ETM

My 99' v70 is going down the same old ETS/ETM road as everyone elses it seems and I am very confused about the whole mess.

The car has 165,000+ miles on it and am wondering now if it is the cheaper route to just get rid of the car then to get the ETM replaced from what I am reading here,The car also needs a new heater core as it has now destroyed my interior carpet

The car is getting down to VERY low RPMs whenever I brake or turn at all. Stalling ususally once a day out of the 50 or so miles I drive it. It has came close to causing me a few accidents with my 2 year old in the car now and I am concerned if this is the end for my beloved v70.

I have had the o2 sensors replaced as I had taken the car to be checked out before I knew of this whole ETS/ETM mess I was getting into.

What is the next step sense the o2 sensors didn't take care of it?

Welcome to the forum.

1. Has your ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) been replaced before?
a. This is covered under a 10 yr. 200,000 mile warranty and if it isn't it should be.
b. If yours isn't covered it will be anywhere from $900-$1200 to be replaced.

2. Has the ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) software update been installed yet?
a. This should be covered under warranty.
b. If not it is between $50-$150.

The ETM should be covered by the warranty. I bought mine in at 159K and they took care of it for free.

I had to replace mine before the warranty for $920 about. Then they actually reimbursed me for it.

I have forgot to mention the ETM has not yet been replaced but the software update was applied and did nothing at all to the way the car feels.

So the next step is to call the dealer to set up an appointment? Is the a deductable for the replacement or will they take other steps first?
Also can I be sure this is the problem? I really love my car and do not want it to become a money pit

Well has the ETS (Electronic Throttle System) light come on? If so...

a. Has it come on and gone off in a few seconds?

b. Has it come on and stayed on?

Originally the light came on for one drive of about 10 miles,But never came back that I noticed untill about 100 miles or so later,Now I get the displeasure of seeing it everytime I start the car for atleast the past 7,000 Miles

Ok so it is coming on and staying on then. Correct?

If so then you need to have it at least cleaned if not replaced and the software update done again. You might have to beg them to replace it for you at no charge. I personally would have it replaced and the new software update done.
