desperate for answers
My wife is due in a month and it sees every shop I turn to gives me the runaround.. we have a 2001 Volvo v70 xc awd. The car stalls at low speeds and idle. It will hesitate starting or not start at all for a bit afterwards.
We have cleaned the mass air flow sensor and replaced it. We have replaced the fuel pump and fuel relay. No one seems to have any other answers aside from those.
Brakelights also won't come on at all. The units themselves are functional, just won't kick on the brake lights when braking. The fuses are all good. My wife adores this car.. really want to get it running for her. Any help would be appreciated.

Please answer with the specific code number if you know it.
Sounds to me like it could be ETM (electronic throttle module) issues but there would/should be codes set that would point you there if that was the case.
Or fuel pressure related; doesn't this car have two fuel pumps? Also as of '99 MY they went to returnless type fuel delivery system which is considerably more complex than '98 and prior MYs. I.e. you may need an expert tech; someone who is familiar with diagnosing these systems.

Runs rough at low engine speed.... I say first thing to try is the injector cleaner with TECHRON , about $13 ..... my sons friend, a Saab driver believes me a genius because it solved a similar problem for him..... I personally don't know Volvo injectors well enough to know whether they ever get clogged. It also worked on my VW. Skimpy injectors deliver a sufficient amount at an elevated engine speed , but struggle at a low speed.
