Hi Guys,
I have noticed a little oil leak, allthough i don't think it's engine oil, it's a black/dark brown fluid and it's a bit thicker than the consistancy of water.... it seem's to be coming from the driver side(your passenger side in the states), it is dripping from the back edge of the front wheel about 300-400 mm in ....any advise would be great.. could it be power steering fluid!!

Very possible that is is steering fluid.

 

Hi Guys, in the volvo hand book it states that only volvo anti freeze coolant should be used because of certain aluminium parts used in the cooling system... my Question is do you have to use the volvo coolant or can i use a valvoline pre mixed G-O5 Anti-freeze - Anti Boil...

Read the back of the bottle and make sure you can use it with an aluminum engine.
We don't use Volvo coolant.

 

Hi, Guys...I have finally had enough of the bloody oil leak, my kid's now have a swimming pool in the garage !! My mechanic who is reluctant to work on VOLVO's and only VOLVO's..He works on anything and everything BMW, MERC, AUDI you name it but not VOLVO, said i have a oil leak coming from the crank case, and another little one somewhere else (can't remenber where). How involved is getting this leak fixed, i might have to take it to a volvo garage, and i don't want to get stitched up!!! Any advise on size and time of this job would be tops..

The 2 common places for oil leaks are the Vent box.(Front of engine) The turbo return line (Back of engine)

The vent box is expensive to get repaired because the intake has to be removed.

The turbo return line is fairly cheap to have it fixed.

Tech, can you please let me know why this oil leak is sometime's there and sometime's not
I can park it in my garage for a week and no leaks , then one day BOOM oil everywhere why is this so, i'm curious to find out..

Is it leaking from the front or the back?

If it is from the back then you must go easy on the turbo on some days and other you might hit it very hard.

It's leaking from the back...Does this mean i don't drive the car hard enough..?
Because i can fix that no prob's....Like you i also like Speed.
Just a bit of fun, I'll get it checked out and let you all know..
