Front End Growling Noise

Front End Growling Noise
My 2003 V70 has developed a very loud, growling noise in the front.
I'm running Michelin HydroEdge radials, which now have about 20k on them. They are 65k rate tires, and have plenty of tread left on them.
The noise sounds very much like loud tire noise.
The noise is louder when going up hill, or accelerating.
The noise does not go away when I put the car in neutral and coast.
The noise is quieter when I turn left, and louder when I turn right. ( I hear no bearing noises at low speeds when turning.)
The noise starts to be noticible around 35 - 40 mph, and is loudest around 60 mph. It becomes somewhat less loud and higher pitched above 60 mph. Definitely linked to the cars speed, not engiine speed or transmission speed.
No signs of grease/oil leaking.
No signs of uneven tire wear.
No steering wheel vibration.
No steering wheel pull to either side.
Very loud. Sounds like I'm flying a hellicopter.
Any advice on what this could be?
