Default gas mileage on v70

I just recently purchased a 1998 V70, non turbo, with 91K. In my opinion the gas mileage is horrendous. I am only getting about 22.5 and it doesnt matter whether im in the economy mode or the sport mode. Is this typical gas mileage or does anyone else get better. Keep in mind this is all factory, no upgrades to the air intake or ehaust or fuel mixture.

Thanks

I wouldn"t complain too much, I have a 98 v70 T-5 and get about 17.5, and I drive like an old woman. The v70 is a heavy car and in my case the 2.3 has to work pretty hard to get it around. My other cars are a minivan and a Mustang GT so I'm used to giving to the petroleum alter often and deeply.

We too a trip with our 2000 v 70 non turbo. We drove 500 miles round trip at speeds of 60-90 mph and I got about 26 mpg, maybe a bit more. Depends on what kind of driving you do and gas.
