OK guys, got a question.

When I first turn on the heat in the car there is a smell of coolant for about 3 min, in the past with my VW that meant heater core, any thoughts? And has anyone changed it? In the VW, it's bad news.

What makes it weird is that it started shortly after I changed the rad which made me skeptical about the heater core. One opinion I heard was that now that the sistem was no longer leaking there was more presure and therefore the core is leating some out.

Could be the heater core or the rad, have both checked out.

I still smell it in my s70 after a new rad was installed

 

My core used to leak a little (never realised it) but after changing the Rad it really started leaking badly. Fortunately I ended up only having to replace the o-rings on the pipes connecting to the core. All was good again.
