last sunday i took it upon my self to replace the passenger side outer cv boot on my wife's 99V70 nonturbo wagon.
took a while, but finally got it back together. biggest pain was putting axle back in and reattaching the hub.
anyway, driving home heard an occasional knock coming from where i was working. thought it may be the outter clamp buckle hitting something. a couple days later got the car lifted and looked at the clamp. looked ok.
this morning the wife tells me that the knocking is worse.
what are the chances that i screwed up the axle while removing or reinstalling? the old boot had seperated around the axle clamp, but was still full of grease.
also, is there a source for aftermarket axle assemblies for this car?

Make sure the upper spring seat didn't break while you were messing with the Axle.

With the car on the ground open the hood. Then try turning the top strut nut it is a 13/16 if it turns freely then it is bad. If it feels rubbery it is good.

you might also want to feel for Play in the sway bar links.

i checked the bolt on the strut. seems fine. will try to look at sway bars today.

Worse case the Axle might break or strip.

Look in your local area and see if you have a CV Pros near you they rebuild and do a good job.
