Ignition Coils - Brand
I am experiencing some hesitation or possible miss-firing when first accelerating. The car has 95,000 miles so Ithink it is time for new ignition coils.
Choices:
Duralast coils for $47.00 each = $235.00
BWD coils for $50.00 each = $250.00
IPD Bosch coils for $60.00 each = $300.00
Volvo coils for $87.00 each = $435.00
Anyone have experience or opinions on these?
Thanks,

Well not long ago I worked on a S40 for a friend and he bought coils from autozone and it had duralast on the box. I was looking like oh no what kind of parts are we getting. But then I opened the box and to my surprise it was a Bosch coil and it also had Volvo stamped on it looked exactly like the OEM coil pack.
So maybe go to autozone and have them pull one out of the box and see if it says Bosch or Volvo

Tech,
I checked with Autozone and the ignition coil comes in a Duralast box but the coil itself does not have any Duralast markings on it. It is a Beru Coil. I don't know anything about them except that they are out of Germany.
Any thoughts on Beru?
Thanks,

If Shop2 is getting mis-fires from the coils, would this be represented by pulling the codes? Would these codes be at a level where the Autozone reader would tell you anything or is this "go to the steeler" to find out type thing? I ask, because if autozone can tell you it is the #2 coil, and you move that coil to #4 or something different, and the code then follows, wouldn't it make sense then to just get the coil you need and not replace all of them, or are the coils prone to failure around 100K? If it's a dealer thing, then getting the whole set would be similar cost as 2 trips to the steeler?

The coils are prone to go bad. Thats why I always suggest replacing all at once.
Auto zone scanners will read a misfire for what ever cylinder is bad. Then yes if you swap it the code should move.
