Default Left rear window stuck down...

We have a 2001 V70 and its driver side rear window is stuck (in the down position, of course). It won't go up from either the master switch or the individual door switch, although there is a clicking sound when you try to press either button to make it go up. All the other windows work fine from both switches. We tried pulling it up manually and it'll go probably 3/4ths of the way up and then stop. If you've pulled it up and then try to press the button to make it go up, it'll make a brief grinding noise (which I assume is because manually pulling it creates slack which the motor is trying to pull out). My dad thinks the window has come off the track, but I googled the problem briefly and think it's probably something to do with the motor or the switch...

Is there a relatively simple fix that will avoid me having to take a trip to the dealer tomorrow about it? Would "jumping" the window motor fix it? Honestly, if we can just get the window to go up and stay up, that's fine...we could probably live with it not being able to be rolled down anymore. If anyone could walk me through how to fix it with clear instructions, that would be great. Thanks!

Sounds like the window regulator might have broke. They are usually cable driven. Either the wheel breaks or the cable breaks. Yours the wheel might have broke and thats why you hear a slight noise.

Thanks...of course it has to be the expensive part

If I buy a used part, what years/models can I use?

Not sure if the exact range but you might be better off buying new. If you buy used it might break 1 day later then back to square one.

If you buy it used from Erie Volvo used parts I'm pretty sure they will give you a lifetime warranty. Not positive though, but I know they do on many electrical parts. They ship stuff out real fast too. Tell them Jim sent you. I think I ready somewhere that if you mention volvospeed they will give you a 10% discount.
