Default Lighting

Hey guys,

I've been fighting to get better lighting out of my 1998 V70. I've changed the lenzes, bulbs, even tried Xenon but I have lousy luck. The Xenon kit doesn't seem to like the Volvo for some reason, (very unreliable, flickers and even with the use of a relay doesn't work right).

Can anyone help on this, I'm ready to bolt giant lights on the bumper, I'm tired of not seeing!

Thanks, anything helps!

Jeff

A lot of people swear by the HID kits from www.sharphid.com. I can't say anything about them though, at least until Santa brings me the kit in a few weeks.

I have HID's in my car and love them.

Careful adding HID's to a car that didn't come with them. If the car does no thave a projector housing it's real easy to create a glare that will blind oncoming motorists.

I found in my '98 V70 that though the bulbs were fine, the reflector housing had the
reflective coating coming off. The cheap and dirty fix for me was to remove the entire
headlight assembly, then take off the lens and remove the bulb. Finally a light coat of
chrome paint (which was not as nice as I hoped) and reassemble. The light was indeed
much brighter; I followed with an alignment and am doing okay now.

I had lousy light too when I bought my 11 year old V70. I changed the entire lamp units because the reflector was worn and fitted extreme power halogen bulbs which give 80% more light. I was contemplating xenon, now I don't anymore. It works great! The Hella lamp units where costly though, but not as expensive as Xenon!
