Does anyone know the size in inches or MM for the outer cv boot large clamp on a 98 N/A V70. My clamp keeps popping off and I want to change it. I tried a generic one size fits all, but that did not work. I want to get a replacement clamp at a auto part store locally, but I need to know the size.

 

Not sure if the the 98 V70 boot clamp is the same size as my 2001 but I thought you might find some of this information useful. I originally wrapped some string around the CV boot, marked it and measured it flat to get as close to the exact size clamp as possible.

The inner CV joint boot on the passenger side of my 2001 Volvo V70 was leaking grease and I tried several things before getting the boot to seal well. I first tightened the existing clamp, which didn’t help. I then replaced the clamp with a CV clamp from Napa Auto but it still leaked some grease. The boot was not damaged it was just leaking on the inside where it was clamped to the inner CV housing. I finally bought an Oetiker stepless clamp and side jaw pliers. This clamp stopped the grease leakage for good. There’s been no grease leakage at all for almost a year now. The 92mm clamp is a little tight getting it around the outside of the boot but it’s the right size once clamped.

Thank you for showing those type of clamps, I have never seen them before. I will need to try those out.
