Default Need help re-assembling window switch

The toggle switch for my passenger window went "limp", so I took the thing apart, and found a long, skinny black spring with a silver tip loose in the switch housing.

The electronics are still working, but I can't seem to figure out where the spring is supposed to go. So I can't re-assemble the toggle switch.

Has anyone ever taken one of these apart, and put it back together successfully?

Thanks!

Default 2000 v70

I forgot to mention that the switch is in a 2000 V70.

there should be a hole in the base of the button - if you have the top of the switch assembly upside down, the spring would go into that hole with the tip pointing up. The tip will sit in the lower half of the switch assembly, in a hole in the plastic piece that slides back and forth in the contacts. Sorry, I don't have a pic handy.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for your help, CassMori. Your post helped me to realize that the assembly "cover" (big grey plastic piece that serves as the exterior of the switch assembly when it is installed in the door panel), was missing a big chunk. So my switch is fine, except for a chunk of plastic that cracked out of the assembly cover at some point in the past. My guess is that I can't get a replacement cover...
Thanks, again.

glad to help where I can. Not sure about the replacement cover, but you may be able to find a non-functional switch assembly, and take the cover from that. Or just get a complete used switch assembly that is functional, which might be easier to find.
