Default New to forum, buying V70R

Hi guys

Sorry if this has been covered already, I did have a look but I'm at work so I don't really have all day to search :$

I've been offered an R reg v70R, 125k on the clock, for £1350

It apparently has the T5 2.3 turbo, and is apparently the FWD version

Any ideas for good things to look for at this age, faults etc?

I've had a volvo before (B reg 360 GLS) so I'm not a total Volvo 'noob' but neither am I experienced in the newer volvos and their engines etc.

Any suggestions greatfully appreciated

Ta

ok just found buyers guide on forum.. sorry for time waste :$

any suggestions are still appreciated, if there's anything specific to the 'R' that have become known faults or whatever

I've heard one person comment that 'R' stands for 'repair' so I'm slightly concerned. or was that just some misinformed idiot? lol

The "R" in Volvo dictionary stands for "Refinement" whereas other mfgs usually use an "R" for "Racing".

When looking for a Volvo, I would look for a turbocharged model and yes, an "R" version. Volvo's turbocharging system is so well designed that it does not affect petro economy as does in other mfgs' vehicles.

Cheers,

thanks for that, I was wondering what it actually stood for

can you suggest an honest MPG for this car please? I'm being told that they are renowned for being drinkers, but the stock figures quote 22-40mpg depending on short-long haul

obviously the guy selling it is saying it's good on fuel, but he would say that

What year model is it? I have a old R, actually a T-5R and I get 25 around town and 32 on the highway when driving modestly. Twenty one to 22 otherwise.

Also, I think most of the V70 R's are AWD.
