I have a 2001 V70 T5 wagon with an automatic transmission. It has 205K miles. My friend had the car for the last 10 years. He bought it with about 50K on it. The struts and transmission were replaced by a Volvo dealer in July. All the front end bushings were also replaced at the same time.

I live in Roseburg, OR.....we've kinda been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons....but the nearest Volvo dealer is 75 miles away....so planning on doing a lot of work myself. I got the car for a good enough deal, I don't mind putting some money into it.


I've only had the car a week but I have a few small issues and a couple questions:
1. Buzzing from auto-climate control panel. I'm pretty sure it's the recirc fan. I blew it out with some compressed air and it seems to be quiet for now.

2. Slight surge with light throttle. Noticeable only when almost coasting with very light throttle where the RPMs are around 1800. MAF? TPS? Fuel filter? Spark plugs?

3. Low beam adjustment nut doesn't move the low beams up or down on either side, but the high-beam adjustment nuts work. Short of replacing the headlight assembly, how is this fixed?

4. Turn signal sometimes fast-blinks when in left-turn position. Can I spray contact cleaner into the switch and move it around?

5. The sunroof doesn't snug up flush to the roof when closed. It doesn't leak, but I do hear a little wind noise. So mostly a cosmetic repair

That's it...otherwise it's a wonderful car.

Would the oil have been drained to do the transmission swap in July?

When I do change the oil, is it worth it to wait for a Mahle or Mann filter?

As far as oil, looks like the manual says 5-30? Is there a consensus on recommended brand of oil? I've run Amsoil in my motorcycles. Shell Rotella? Mobil 1?
