Hi all,

I'm looking to change my car (currently Mazda6) to a Volvo V70, or other large estate car. A recent addition to the family has meant my saloon is too small to fit all our stuff in! Now I'm looking only to spend around £10k and I know exactly whats available in my price range - the 2.4 140/170hp petrols and the diesels.

I would love to have an automatic because of the amount of driving I do, but I'm concerned how reliable these gear boxes are? The car would have around 30,000 on the clock, not a huge amount, but I've been put off the A6 Multitronic after reading about all the horrors with the multitronic 'box. I don't want to have a really expensive outlay in a couple of years time!

So would anyone here recommend the Auto V70, and are there any issues with early models that I need to take into account? I do love the look of this car, plus the value for money when you can pick up manual/auto models for well under 10k.

I have the manual with the 170hp engine. The manual is about all that makes the power output tolerable for me. The engine and transmission are working very well at 200k miles.
