Default Obd2 not picking up water temp

hi Guys.

Ive just purchased a 2002 C70 convertible 2.0T and starting to fix a few things.

Ive connected myOBD2 up and I’m not getting a water temp reading. Any ideas what’s up?

the temp gauge on the car seems to be operating ok, just not getting a reading through on the OBD.

Thanks in advance.

Andi

Being it's an '02 it has a separate, removable coolant temperature sensor.
Later engines have a combined box-like affair containing both thermostat and sensor.
Given how cheap to buy and easy to replace the sensor is, I'd just install a new one and see what happens.

ow many miles are on this '02? The sensor is at or near its life's end.
