Default Oil leak, don't panic yet

2004 V70 was leaving a small oil puddle under engine, passenger side.

I figured it must be cam or crank seal. At my ripe old age, I decided I'd let a pro fix it. He'd probably want to do the timing belt and pulleys too, although they have only 40K on them. Looked like a $500 job, maybe more. Ugh.

Resigned to paying up, I decided to remove the plastic covers to see just what was leaking.

Suprise, suprise.. The head was covered with oil, which was running down behind the timing belt. The seal under the oil cap had two tiny cracks.

New seal - 31 cents plus $7 shipping. Cleaned up the mess, new seal, 15 minutes total.

Dry as a bone.
