Default P0116 Check Engine Light

I have a 98 V70 turbo with approx 125k miles. I recently got this light error code P0116. I was a little worried since I just replaced my alternator (what a pain in the a$$ by the way) and had to refill the coolant as I had to remove hoses. I checked and the level was good. The temp gauge on the dash reads normal (horizontal) when running so I was thinking the temp sensor or the thermostat. Is that a correct assumption? If so how do I know which one?

Thanks,
Josh

P0116 loose of signal from coolant temp sensor the the computer. look for loose or not connected wiring connector at the coolant temp sensor. located on left front of engine. you may have knocked it loose or worse broken the connector.
