Hi there i'm Al, a decent sort from north Yorkshire and well into classic cars. I currently have a Morris minor on its side for welding and will tackle anything mechanical.

Onto the V70 then......Im concerned about towing my caravan with my 2016 Peugeot daily driver because the capacity is only just enough. 1300KG capacity for a 1300KG max weight of caravan .

Thus, I have decided to buy an old V70 as a tow car as the whole world knows this is the correct car for the job.

Im not poor but I really enjoy getting a nice old bargain so am looking for a sub £1000 car to show that it can be done.

Please may I have your thoughts on this one? Im told the cat C is down to the dented bonnet, ive spoken to the dealer and he sounds like a decent sort. He is also prepared to drive it from the deep south to North Yorkshire in exchange for fuel money and a train ticket home. It passed its MOT yesterday with no advisories. Its not leather but it has a towbar, it looks like its also got a split bumper, no doubt due to a clumsy hitch attempt in the past.
He didn't know if its a 140 or a 170, how can I tell?

Id like your thoughts please if poss.

to know which 2.4 engine you have, you'd need to search using the VIN (I think digits 5/6 are the engine code) or look for a sticker on the timing belt cover or the build plate on the firewall. If you see something like B5244S2 its the 140, if you see B5244S its the 170.
