Unhappy Pressing Brake Pedal - Won't Disengage out of PARK

I've been having a problem getting the car out of park. I press the brake and it hasn't been consistently disengaging the transmission so I can take it out of park. If I press the brake multiple times, I may have success hearing it click and disengage - but it has been unpredictable and unreliable.

To try to fix the problem I've had the Brake Pedal Senor replaced, but that failed to fix it.

What should I be looking to do next to try to fix it?

It is a 98 -

After some research - I am going to go after micro-switch and solenoid perhaps that has burned out or is faulty. Apparently it is located below/at the base of the shifter inside the console and may provide the solution to this problem.

- any advise either to confirm I'm on the right track or to advise otherwise would help me tremendously, thanks

Question

I have a similar issue in my 2001 V70 2.4t. once it warms up it's OK but very annoying to have to sit there for up to 5minutes!
Please post if you find the solution.

micro switch and solenoid seemed to have worked. - It took some time to isolate the issue, but that appears to be it.
