Default Quick advice on a 2002 T5

I am new to the volvo site - I have an opportunity to get a hand-me-down V70 T5 from inlaws for $4k. It has low mileage 45,000 but needs new struts (so says a dealership in Fla). It also has a problem with the reaview mirror. I think this is a great car for my family of four but my wife is reluctant to spend money on a car we don't need right now that needs work (we have an Audi w/ 135k and a Subaru with 105k). I like the idea of having another car to depend on as these two get older.

Anyone have a rough idea of cost/difficulty for these repairs? For most items I would DIY as long as I am not having to drive the car to work the next day. Any other insight or opinion is appreciated.

Buy the car & sell it tomorrow for $6,000. Put 2k in your pocket, take your wife out to a nice dinner, and blame your wife for selling it if anyone gives you a hard time about it.

Why do you think the struts need replacing?

What kind of problem can a rear view mirror have?

Buy the car and sell the Audi. Great car that will last forever. Repairs aren't cheap but then I think the cost to own an Audi would be similar so that is a wash. Struts shouldn't be worn out after only 45K. I still have the original ones on my 02 S60. They have 104K on them and are still going strong.
