rattle/squeaks from rear cargo area
seems to be excessive noise in the form of rattles and squeaks in the cargo area
dealer told me it was cargo cover so i drove without that for awhile to no avail
also have (bought aftermarket genuine volvo) metal cargo divider the kind that can flip up to the ceiling
when not in use, however it seems rock solid regardless of which way i try to move it
cargo under floor is empty
spare tire is firmly fastened down
i am stumped any new ideas?? thanks

2 Other areas worth checking... if you have a 7 seater, check that the rattle etc. isn't from that area but the main other squeak culprit in these models is the latch and pin that locks the rear seats upright. If these get slightly worn or are not properly and tightly adjusted, they can cause the most annoying squeak! Easy to check this one... just fold seats down and drive and see if the noise goes!
I don't know what year your v70 is, but on my '99 I get a rattle and squeak from the rear seat back where it locks in the up position. It ratlles back and forth on the locking pin as I drive. Annoying. I'm going to find a way to adjust the hook that locks the seat on the pin (I hope)
I had the same problem on my 850. Turns out it was where the seat engages with the latch. I saw a number of suggested remedies including 1 that suggested melting candle wax over the latch pin. In the end I wound electrical tape around the latch and it's been quiet for the last 3 months. Cost to fix - nowt!
Hope this does the job.
