Default Rear Brake Work

98 V70R Chassis 527566
It started with my emergency brake not working. I pulled everything today to look around. I need at the very least, the emergency brake shoes, two rotors (11 inch), a set of re-manned calipers as the seals are torn. Pads were replaced less than 500 miles ago, I think I can reuse them. I verified that the emer brake cable makes stuff move around. There emer shoes are completely worn away as if the car were driven with the brake on. I have my center console off. Are there any other parts I should replace while I'm in there? When doing the emer brakes do I completely slacken the adjuster at the console? The adjuster at the emer shoes, is that the first one I adjust after replacing the emer shoes? Are there any heavy-duty gotchas swapping out the emer shoes? Is the car supposed to use DOT-4 fluid? Will I be able the completely turn the wheels with both rears off the ground? This is to turn by hand to test for emer brake drag etc. Will I be hurting anything doing this? All the parts come to about $275.00 from FCP Groton. What could I reasonably expect for an indy quote, an expensive and Volvo only dedicated indy?
Thanks for any and all advice.

I'm not a mechanic by any means, and I did my rear brakes myself with no problem including new rotors. I'm sure tech will walk you right through it with no problem. For all you want done my guess would be $1,000 from a Volvo independent shop. That's just a gues though.

Actually I was think probably $750.00 at least. Looks like this will be my 6th brake job since April (different cars). I don't even like doing brakes but it isn't all that hard. I sure do hate doing brake shoes though , even if they are only emer brakes. Wife's Subaru has drums in back and it was a huge PITA doing them. The Volvo looks easy, I'm going to try this myself and save the $750 (or $1,000) for something I can't do, like a nice dual IPD exhaust :-)

Yes pretty straight forward like it looks.
Loosen the E-brake handle most of the way.
Then once all together you should be able to adjust through a little hole in the rotor.
I always set to slight drag on the rotor. Then test e-brake from there. Then if you need it tighter then do from inside.
