Default rear suspension and clicking noise

Hi Everyone, I found my way back after losing all my bookmarks when my HD crashed...

I have a 98 V70, non turbo, 5 spd.

The car has developed a couple of gremlins.

first, under normal acceleration, I hear this tinny click. Its not loud, but it definitely has a metallic sound to it.

Then today, I thought to myself, the rear end is all of a sudden bouncy bouncy and the car started to really vibrate badly at anything over 80 KmH.

When I got to my destination, I knelt on the rear bumper and sure enough, it was bouncing.

I figure the shocks must be gone, but it seems to be more involved than that for it to happen suddenly?

Gotta run, Thunderstorm brewing....Terry

So.
I changed the rear shocks and when you kneel on the back bumper and let it go, it seems solid. However, it feels as though the rear tires oscillate a lot over bumps despite the new shocks.

This car lately seems really noisy and clunky when going over bumps in the road. I have a beater of a 96 Dodge Caravan and it is smoother and quieter than the V70......

Hello, Please try to include things like mileage etc. in your posts.
If your rears were gone could the fronts be far behind? The sway bar links contribute noise when they loosen with age. The rubber spring seat looses its ability to isolate harshness as it gets old and brittle. Old bushings don't get quiet with age. As far as your oscillating rear wheels go, I'd make sure the wheels were balanced well and do what was needed to front end before concluding anything. How soft a shock you installed will have an effect. Kira

Thanks for the info.

Car has 215,000 and change KMS. The shocks I installed were, SACHS, which if I recall are the OEM type. Now that you mention spring seats and such, that is likely contributing to the noise in back, like the springs are rattling around back there.
