Hello, I'm looking for what will be be my first Volvo, And I want a 2005 - 2007 V70 2.5T. A Volvo salesperson told me some things today that I question. All pertain to a 2005 V70 2.5T:
1 The 2005 models cannot accept roof rails. Only crossbars that will hook directly to the roof.

2 All third row seats were dealer installed options. The seat cushions were attached to the underside of the original cargo area floor boards, and can simply be removed should I prefer the storage space to the seats.

3 No cars came with dark factory tinted glass in the back.

Any info appreciated.

 

I know 3 is correct. No auto maker does that, especially one that claims to be safety concerned.

 

Older models had 3rd row seat as factory option. Don't know about 05-07. Can't say I've seen any of those years with 3rd row seats.

 

we have our 2nd 2005 V70 2.5t. Our first one was totaled. It had the 3rd row seat dealer installed. The cushions replaced the 2 cargo floor sections. Then the seatbelts and a lock accessible from inside the hatch. When not in use, cargo room is exactly the same. I don't no what you mean by roof rails, most V70's have roof rack rails that run almost the length of the car. you can attach accesories and cross bars to this. As far as tint, no cars come from the factory tinted, only SUV's(as they are considered trucks) and trucks. We had 80k trouble free miles on our 1st V70 and 103k miles on the current one. 30mpg hwy and great driving! Good luck in your search.

 

Thanks for the info. So the tint is out. About the third seat I mean I expected to have some storage space in the cavities under the floor but they are fille with seat cusions. So I guess my question is - if I have a tird row car, car I try to find the cargo area boards from a non third row car and fit them? or are the shape or hinges different? Or maybe the seat cushions can be removed from the existing panels without damage? Concerning the roof rails, he claims that the 2005 cannot accept the standard v70 roof rail that runs the length of the car on each side. He says crossbars will connect directly to the roof sockets without rails. I question this as I've seen pictures of 2005 models with rails.
