Question Service engine light coming on

I drive a 2001 V70 2.4T with a little less than 150K miles and it runs like a champ. I change the oil every couple of months and use Castrol GTX High Mileage engine oil.

Anyways, the "Service" light keeps coming on and I don't know why. It comes on when I start the car and goes off after a couple of minutes. The vehicle passed inspection recently so obviously the people who inspected it didn't see it as a problem.

Can I disconnect the battery cable to reset it or do I need to bring it to the dealership and have them check it out?

The service light has a built in electronic odometer that needs reset each time you do service. 7500 miles later it will come on again. Do a search of the forum for details on how to do this. Going from memory (that might be wrong), you push and hold the trip mile reset button, as you hold turn on the ignition to where the dash light up (but engine does not start). I think you release after so many seconds or when the light flashes, can't remember which one. I keep the directions in my glove box.

Thanks. I searched before but must have put in the wrong criteria. Here's what my new search found (link): https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-v70-13/how-clear-service-engine-light-thanks-tech-18082/

I printed it out and will reset light ASAP.

Yep, that's the way I do mine. Glad you found the directions.
