Hi all. I have a 2002 V70 non-turbo 2.4 which has started making a strange noise lately. I can barely hear a faint ringing noise coming from around the dash above the brake pedal. At least I think that is were it comes from. When I press the brake the sound stops. I have 115,000 on it and it does need a rebuilt trans. Any suggestions as to what this might be? Thanks.

 

Wear indicators? Check the pad thickness.
