Stay in or Get Out?
Hello All,
I have a 1999 Volvo v70 glt and I really want to keep my car. I currently have 158,000 miles on it and recently have had to fork out $1700 to the dealer within a 2 week period to get it road worthy again. I had to replace the engine fan and the alternator + battery. I hope I’m good for a while. Just looking for some advice if I should keep the car or if I should be looking for a “new” pre-owned Volvo? Part 2: I live in PA an hour outside of Philly. Just curious if anyone can recommend a good Volvo mechanic that would let me buy my parts online and just charge me labor for the installation? Thanks!

thats a tough call. newer means morebig bucks. expensive dealer servicing to validate the warranty ect. if you like your current ride then recall the old saying, better the devil you knowthan the one you dont ? ps, i know a great mechanic
who does all the work on my wifes 99V70. i supply the parts and he just bills me for the labour, trouble is we live in ireland. if he ever visits your part of theworld i will get him to look you up. joking aside, i wish you good fortune.

Thanks for the kind reply! I think I just needed a little encouragement to convince myself to hold onto my car a while longer. If I'm ever in your neck of the woods we'll have to meet up for a pint! Cheers!
Don't know which side of Philly you live on, but worth contacting Volvo Car Repair 27 Route 46W, Clifton, N.J. tel. no. 201 478 6586 ! The man is incredible, albeit a bit eccentric, but extremely reasonable? He believes in perfection; once he dropped my transmission to look inside, to make sure it was okay, and he didn't charge a penny? He kept my 760 Turbo running like a rocket for years!!!!
Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Clifton NJ is a little far from me but a referral is worth the trip over the bridge! I will be sure to check him out. Thanks again for your help!
