Question stiff front suspension

I have 2001 V70 T5. The front suspension is very stiff and harsh on even small bumps. The spring seats and shocks are fine. I am thinking of softer springs but I would like to talk with some that has done it. Dealer says change the shocks not the springs? Advise anyone?

How long have you had the car? Is this a recent problem or just getting on your nerves more and more, like a slow drip?

rspi,
I have had the car 2.5 years. I have replaced the c/v joints, wheel hub/bearings, & spring caps. I updated the tranny with the new solinoid cover-what a difference! The thing I don't like is the abrupt jarring of small bumbs. My 944 turbo had a very stiff setup, but it would absorb bumps. Any suggestions? I have also thought about a 50 series tires instead of the 45s (235/45/17). What do you think?
Thanks,
Rex
