Default Sunroof misbehaving

Evey time i disconnect my battery, my sunroof stops working for a couple of hours. This has never bothered me greatly but I neglected to tell my mechanic this so he has disconnected the battery and then discovered the sunroof didn't work so he tried to fix it. Now it doesn't behave properly. It won't open all the way, in fact it only opens about an inch. When i push the button forward as if to close it, it pops it up. Pushing the button up as if to pop the sunroof up does nothing. It will not stop automatically when it is closed so i have to hold it until the right moment so i'm not sure what point is sealed properly. Is there any simple way to fix this? Very bad timing at the beginning of Australian summer!!

He must have took it out of time.

He needs to be filled in on that when the battery is disconnected to reset the system lock and unlock the car with the remote and key to wake the system up.

But he needs to retime the motor.

Is this something i can myself? Is it just a matter of realigning the start/stop points on the motor? I just know that i won't bre able to get it back to him before the new year.

You will have to remove the motor and set the stop positions by moving the motor out of the assembly.

Well i tried the reset procedure, unlocking and locking with the remote, with the key at pos II. It didn't seem to do anything but make the sunroof not work at all for a minute or so, then it went back to the stupid behaviour. I took the car to get washed and when i picked it up the sunroof was working perfectly normally. It must have been yet another poltergeist!

I have a 1995 850 turbo and my interior lights and sunroof don't work... the fuse is good.... I tried the reset and It didnt seem to work... should I be holding the unlock and lock at the same time? Does the door need to be open or closed?

If you had something useful to add to this post I'd understand reviving a 5+ year old thread. Your best bet would be to post a fresh question of your own as the original poster rather than tacking it onto a basically dead thread.

When you do post, what is it you tried to reset and how did you try to do it?

Have you tried removing the dome light panel and checking to see if you have power up there or if maybe something came loose ??

Did you check the fuses by looking at them or did you check them with a volt meter or test light? Looking doesn't always tell you if one's bad.
