Default Thinking of DIY Head Gasket change - Any advice?

Hi,

I have a 2005 v70 2.5L L5 DOHC 20V Turbo engine ( B5254T2 ) that I decided to replace the head gasket myself. There is no oil in the water but car will not start. I have been told by several mechanics that the issue is the head gasket.
So I decided using on-demand and alldatadiy I would undertake the job myself.

Any suggestions or advanced advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

whey did the mechanics suggest the head gasket as the cause for a no-start problem? Did they do a compression test? (similarly how do they know its not a valve timing issue etc)? besides the amount of labor removing all the trimmings, the things to pay attention to is setting the cam timing (you have VVT gear(s) to reset) and there's a process when tightening the head bolts. Look for vids on Youtube.

The car overheated then shut down. It was towed to a Firestone that determined it blew the head gasket. I can only assume they did a compression test.
